2024 Season

The jury results are trickling in. I was honored to be invited back to Spring Green’s Art Fair and Madison’s Art Fair on the Square. I have also been invited to participate in the Third Ward Art Festival in Milwaukee. I am working hard to develop new art and also find a way to offer prints and canvas prints of some of my work.

I find this time of year both creatively stimulating and stressful. Does that make sense? I have a vision of what and how much I need to create to be prepared for the summer. Sometimes that vision of perfection adds to the stress. I find myself dreaming about my art. It is always a challenge to figure out how I am going to translate the image in my head into a fiber image. What fiber will work? Will it felt properly? Is it too bright, too dull, or the wrong shade? Does it convey the feeling of the sunshine or the brilliant colors of a sunrise or sunset? What will the observer feel? With felting there is almost always a surprise when you apply water and the fibers blend together. For the most part the surprises are happy surprises. The entire process is totally consuming… which is a good thing… I think. Off to work!
